Small app, small footprint.
SyncaMap is a focused Shopify app. It reads only what it needs, keeps only what it must, and gives it all back when you uninstall.
This page is maintained by Rare Brew Corp, the team behind SyncaMap, to answer common security and privacy questions from Shopify merchants. It describes current app behavior and is not an independent audit, certification, or legal statement.
How SyncaMap connects to your store
SyncaMap is installed from the Shopify App Store using Shopify's standard OAuth flow. You approve the exact read scopes during install: orders, customers, and locations. If you remove those scopes, the app can no longer sync.
What SyncaMap reads
- Order records that match your sync rules (customer tag, order tag, sales channel, discount code, customer email domain, or order note). Orders that do not match are ignored.
- Shipping and billing addresses on those orders, used to geocode a location for the map pin.
- Basic customer profile fields (name, email, tags) needed to group orders by wholesale account.
What SyncaMap does not read
- Retail direct to consumer orders that fall outside your sync rules.
- Payment card numbers, bank details, or any PCI scope data. Shopify handles all of that.
- Product inventory, variants, or storefront customer passwords.
Where your data lives
SyncaMap stores only the fields it needs to render your map: a wholesale account, its geocoded address, its tags, and the sync history. Data is transmitted over TLS between Shopify, SyncaMap, and your storefront.
The storefront map is rendered with MapLibre and unmetered map tiles. Visitors to your Shopify store do not need a Mapbox or Google Maps account, and no visitor credentials are collected by SyncaMap.
Uninstall and deletion
When you uninstall SyncaMap from Shopify, we receive Shopify's standard uninstall webhook and purge your wholesale account records, geocoded addresses, and sync history. You can also request a manual data deletion by contacting support.
Reporting a security issue
If you believe you have found a security issue in SyncaMap or the storefront block, please email support@syncamap.com with details and steps to reproduce. We respond to security reports before feature requests.
